What is the best laminator for me?
What is the best laminator for me?
A roll-laminator or pouch laminator can make a great addition to your
home, office, school, or professional print shop, but with all of the different
laminating machines on the market, knowing which machine will fill your
particular needs & be cost efficient; can be difficult.
Here is some information that may
help your understanding.
Most laminators are
thermal machines. These utilize heat to seal the pouch. The heat is applied by either
heated plates or heated rollers. All machines utilize rollers to help ensure
secure adhesion, eliminate air bubbles & transport the laminates. Low volume laminators are usually
equipped with two rollers, mid-level laminators (for offices or schools)
contain 2-6 rollers. High volume Laminators have between four and ten rollers.
There are 3 main problems you're likely to encounter;
A poorly constructed machine.
Poor after-market service.
Problems caused by an inexperienced user.
We service a
lot of laminators & find that the main cause is problems are inexperienced users.
These problems are usually caused by someone has a lack of knowledge of
the machine & invariably this someone comes along & uses it
incorrectly, damaging it.
For most situations we recommend machine that is not too expensive.
Many times we've had to advise a customer we could not repair a laminator even though it was an expensive one; often because no parts were
available or the labour costs would be too high.
